New FractureLab Tutorial: Hand-Drawn Fractures

By BeFX Studios • Oct 13, 2026

We have a new FractureLab tutorial. This time we break a marble column by drawing every cut by hand. Each stroke becomes a cutting plane that splits the column, and you see the result live, with every chunk in its own color.

Then we add detail without drawing a single extra stroke, until the column is in hundreds of pieces. To finish, we pull the column apart to inspect every chunk and its fracture faces.

In this tutorial

  • How to prepare the object and open the Cuts And Fractures panel. The object needs a closed mesh with its scale applied.
  • How to draw cuts with Draw Beziere, starting and ending each stroke outside the column's silhouette, and how they're added to the List of Cutters.
  • How to get more detailed fracture edges by raising Resolution in Cutters Settings.
  • How to multiply the pieces with Repetitions and Subcutters.
  • How to pull the chunks apart with Explode and check the fracture faces with an Inner Material.

The step-by-step guide for this tutorial is now available on the Learning Hub, with a clip and an explanation for every step, in English and Spanish.
